New customers include Time Warner, Whirlpool, Bauer and EMAP
Cambridge, Mass. - September 1, 2011 - Digital publishing support services provider YUDU Media (www.yudupro.com) announced today that it has surpassed the "100th iPad App" milestone, and that in fact its 125th custom-branded iPad App has gone live in the App Store. Recent customers Time Warner, Whirlpool, EMAP and BAUER join existing customers such as CapGemini, Lands' End, Readers Digest UK, IPC and Virgin Holidays. Readers can download these iPad Apps and more at the Apple App Store. YUDU has also completed numerous closed-access Enterprise license Apps, not built for the App Store - for instance, Apps designed for use by a company's own employees.
YUDU is now completing new Apps at a rate of about three per week. The company utilizes fixed-page layouts and the content automatically reflows and adapts to fit the size of each device, resulting in a high quality reading experience. YUDU coordinates Apple approval for each App to get them live in the App Store, and YUDU Apps enable in-app purchase via the App Store and so are fully compliant with Apple's rules.
Once created, each App acts as a container that houses all new publications from a specific title or company: YUDU customers need only to upload their content to the YUDU cloud publishing platform to easily self-publish directly into the App (YUDU also offers a Bureau Service). App users are notified when new publications are available for in-app purchase or download.
YUDU also offers a unique Dual Subscription feature that gives its customers the option to sell iPad subscriptions from their own site as well as in the App Store, allowing their readers to subscribe in advance for a chosen period of time. This too is fully compliant with Apple rules, and means users can purchase from the App Store in just two clicks. YUDU has always believed the App Store would become the best platform for sales and distribution for publishers; therefore, YUDU works closely with Apple to provide tools for publishers to deliver and monetize distribution through the Apple ecosystem.
YUDU's approach allows publishers to:
Richard Stephenson, CEO of YUDU, noted that a YUDU survey found that three out of four publishers plan to publish their content to the iPad. "There is a massive rush by publishers to get their content onto mobile platforms," said Stephenson. "We're thrilled to have published more than 125 Apps in the App Store in addition to delivering numerous closed-access Apps for corporate enterprises. This is a fast-growing area of our business."
YUDU's success in the iPad App market, and accompanying revenue increase, has made it one of the fastest-growing technology firms headquartered in the UK. Recent accolades include:
