During World War II Alaska's lighthouses were manned by men of the U. S. Coast Guard operating under jurisdiction of the U. S. Navy. Mail service was provided by the Navy's postal service and this report details the particulars for each lighthouse and presents full-color illustrations of scarce mail from the light stations.
